Powerful

Being a Godly Man

Day 2

While watching the World’s Strongest Man competitions, I have often been amazed by the amount of pure power those men exhibit. Strength and power are always impressive and frequently inspire others to attempt to perform such remarkable feats as well.

During His earthly ministry, Jesus performed and accomplished many miracles. In Luke 9, Christ had just come down from the mount where He was transfigured before Peter, James, and John (Luke 9:28-36). Upon returning to the other disciples, he was confronted with a man whose son was possessed by a demonic spirit. While He was away, the disciples attempted to cast this demon out but were unsuccessful. Jesus, on the other hand, demonstrated at that moment great power and rebuked the devil, and the devil left the child.

Our verse for the day reveals that the people were amazed at the mighty power of God. Christ demonstrated power so that all would know who He was. As he ascended into heaven, Christ also blessed us with great power. He promised that we would have power as the Holy Spirit came upon us; power to accomplish greater things than even He had accomplished.

Today, you should focus on the fact that God has empowered you to do great things. The accomplishment of these great things will allow you to reveal Him to all people. Today, you will be challenged to remain holy. You will be challenged to do the right thing or to work hard when others are not. If you do the hard thing (the right thing), you will experience and demonstrate the power available to you.

It has been said, “To build strength, you have to lift those things that require strength.” Remember, you have power from God. You can do it, and in doing so, others will be amazed at the mighty power of God.

Prayer—

Lord, you have revealed such mighty power in saving my soul. I ask you today to cause me to live in the power that you have given to me for life. Lord, as I live in this power, please allow your name to be seen through me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
