Seek the Lord: A Path to True Fulfillment

Yesterday, I had one of those days where the Lord was pulling me closer to Him. I felt such an overwhelming desire to be more of what He wanted. I was standing in my kitchen sharing with my wife and son, Elijah, what God had been speaking to me. There was at that moment a strong desire to speak into Elijah, as he prepares for full-time ministry and Bible college.

He is hungry to serve full-time, and I remember what that was like at his age. I also remember my desires and thoughts about finding the right opportunity. I wanted to be in a position where I could do what I knew I was called to do. As I stood there talking with him, the Lord impressed upon my heart to say, “During this time, seek the Lord, not just the opportunity!”

“Seek the Lord, not just the opportunity,” I repeated. I continued by sharing that it was exactly what David had done. He knew he was to be king, but during his preparation/running for his lifetime, he did not seek the throne but the Lord. David’s desire throughout his life was the Lord.

“As a deer longs for flowing streams, so I long for you, God.”

It is far too easy to want the opportunity. There is nothing wrong with wanting something good. However, if we only seek the opportunity, we may miss out on finding the Lord. As we are seeking the Lord, we will find Him, and I believe we will find the opportunities to serve Him that we desire as well.

Seek the Lord!

Seek to know His heart!

Seek to know His mind!

Seek to know His will!

If you know His mind, His will, and His heart, you can trust His hand.
